ANSWERS SPECIFIC TO HOROSCOPE INTERPRETER

A - 01 Dynamic Analysis stops at 1999...?

It's amazing how many World of Wisdom customers think that the Dynamic Analysis option only covers the present period! It must be very unclear in the program - but the fact is that you can make a transit analysis for any period from 1500 to 2099. Click on the Graph icon on the Icon Bar. (Or click on Options, then Dynamic Analysis). At the top you will see the period of years to analyse. Simply write any other 1 to 3 year period in this box - and off you go.

A - 02 Error when you attempt to start program...?

You get an invalid file error, or File not found, or Access Denied, or Table not found message. Uninstall the program by clicking on Start/Control Panel/Remove Programs, then reinstall using the original downloaded file. When reinstalling, do the following:
Do not install the program in "Program Files". When asked to select a directory, install the program on the root directory by selecting:
C:\WOWINT
... and proceed with the installation.

A - 03 Horary - Here and Now...?
The horary icon on the icon bar shows the horoscope for the exact moment when you click on it. This is primarily designed for professionals... the horoscope and interpretation does not refer to any particular person. You can set the parameters for Here and Now by clicking on:
Options/Here and Now/Define Here

A - 04 Copying Data from Horoscope Interpreter to Astrology for Lovers...?
The Data directories from the new 32 bit versions of our programs are NOT compatible. One of our future projects will be to develop compatibility between the two databases.

A - 05 Cannot define Here and Now...?

With some Canadian and Australian States Here and Now on startup cannot be defined. There is a way around this. Here's the solution:

• Go into Options/Atlas
• Click on the Countries tab
• Write a new Country in called for example AAaustralia. Just put in any coordinates for North, East, South and West... they do not matter.)
• Save the new country
• Click on the Place Names tab
• Write a new name for the town you are in like (for example) AAMelbourne
• Put the exact coordinates in for this town
• Select the correct time zone and summer time definition (the State) for the town.
• Go into Options/Here and Now
• Select AAaustrialia
• Select AAMelbourne
• Make sure "Horoscope for Here and Now on Startup" is checked
• Close and restart program and it will now work with the new town you have defined.

A - 06 Moon shown in wrong position on printout...?

In unusual cases with some dates, on some machines an error occurs. The date shows OK on screen, but the printed chart is shown for the previous day. This can often be seen because there is a change in the Moon position. We are currently trying to identify and solve this error. It is made difficult by the fact that it may work perfectly well on one machine, but not on another. As we cannot replicate the problem in the office, we do not yet know how to fix it. We hope a breakthrough will come soon.
In the meantime, you could download an older version of Horoscope Interpreter which does not have this problem from:

A - 07 Will not install and run. Error message about EDBISAMEngine Error...?

You have installation problems and get an error message like:
EDBISAMEngine Error, WowAstro.Exe 001087F4. DBISAM Engine Error # 8961 Header information corrupt in Name.Dat' . We do not know why this happens on some machines but here is the solution:

• Open the program msconfig.exe . (You can find it by clicking Start/Search and writing msconfig.exe in the search box. Double click on the file onec it is found.)
• In the System Configuration Window on the General Tab click on the Advanced button
• The Advanced Troubleshooting Settings window opens.
• Put a checkmark on the EMM Exclude A000-FFFF setting
• Click OK to save an close
• Now you can start the program

ANSWERS TO GENERAL QUESTIONS:

B - 01 Problems with Printing ...?

Hard Drive space
Make sure you have at least 15MB free space on your C drive. Due to the graphics and complex formatting, WOW makes very large print files. If space is low printout cannot take place.

Printer Drivers
Most other printer problems arise because of old or wrong printer drivers. Windows 98 often uses drivers which are too old. Because WOW uses a printer to its full capacity, problems can occur even if other programs seem to print out OK.

The best thing to do is to log on to the home page of your printer manufacturer (e.g. www.hp.com for Hewlett Packard and www.canon.com for Canon) and download the latest printer driver. Generally this will solve the problem.

B - 02 How do I backup my Data...?

Whenever you reinstall the program you should copy important files to a safe place. When you add names and birthdata they are stored in files in the DATA directory beginning with "Name". These files are:
Name.db, Name.mb, Name.px, Namegrps.db, Namegrps.xg0, Namegrps.yg0

If you have also added new towns, adjusted Time Zones or Summer Times, then these are stored in the DATA directory in the following files:
Places.db, Places.px, summer.db, summer.px, zone.db, zone.px, zoneid.db, zoneid.px, zoneid.xg0
We recommend you store the whole DATA directory on your hard disk if you have sufficient space.

B - 03 Font Problem: Strange symbols appear on the Horoscope...?

When the planet symbols don't appear on the horoscope wheel, you've got font problems! This is actually no fault of the World of Wisdom program, and is to do with the fact that there are many fonts on the machine and our fonts have either been "pushed out" or simply couldn't be installed.

It's quite simple to manually install WOW fonts.

• Fonts need to be installed from the CD (or floppies) so you should locate them on the CD using Explorer. It is a good idea to copy them from the CD drive and into your TEMP directory. (Note: Astrology for Lovers fonts are in the ZIP file WOWFNT.ZIP in the SETUP folder on the CD. This must be copied to a temp file and extracted (using Winzip). The two WOW fonts will appear when this is done.) You can also download the fonts here:
  ftp://ftp.u-net.com/com/wow/fix/fonts.zip
• Open up the Fonts window from Control Panel. Make sure the two WOW fonts are not in it. If they are, remove them by right-clicking on the fonts, then on Properties, then on Delete.
• Choose File, on the menu bar, then Install New Font...
• The ADD FONTS window opens.
• Find the two WOW fonts in the TEMP directory.
• When they appear in the font window, click on them both and click OK
• The fonts will now be installed in WINDOWS/SYSTEM/FONTS.

Restart WOW and you should be in business.

B - 04 Uninstalling the program (older 16 bit version)...?

If you have the older version of WOW without "Uninstall" you can completely remove the program from your system by doing the following:

• Remove IDAPI directory from C-drive (Click on it and hit Delete on your keyboard)
• Remove WOW directory
• Restore the WIN.INI file: To do this, remove the following lines from the WIN.INI file:
• [IDAPI] DLLPATH=c:\idapi CONFIGFILE01=c:\idapi\IDAPI.CFG
• [World of Wisdom] DATAPATH=c:\wow\DATA PROGRAMPATH=c:\wow
• Save WIN.INI and restart your machine. You can now reinstall WOW.

Unfortunately World of Wisdom is not available on the Mac, though you can install and run it if you have a Windows emulator like Soft Windows installed on your Mac.

• When you print out from WOW select the Generic Printer

B - 08 The Horoscope is calculated incorrectly...?

WOW programs can only display an incorrect horoscope if:

• The Time Zone or Summer Time is wrong in the WOW database.
• You have entered a P.M. time instead of using the 24-hour clock. (i.e. 2.30 p.m. should be written as 14.30)
• You have entered a birthdate for the year 2000 or later, and the Summer Time Tables have not been updated.

For some American States Zone and Summer Times can be incredibly complicated. WOW is only 99% accurate. To check that your horoscope is being correctly calculated by WOW, try logging on to the excellent horoscope calculation service at:

If you wish to edit the Atlas, this is what to do:

For editing Time Zones:

• Click on Options/Atlas then selecting the Time Zone Tab.
• Use the Search button to select the country/state
• Click on the line next to History of Time Zones, highlighting the line
• Click on the Down arrow. (The highlighted line will disappear)
• Correct the Time Zone value
• Click the Up arrow.
• Click on Save and Close.

For editing Summer Times:

• Click on Options/Atlas then selecting the Summer Time Tab.
• Use the Search button to select the country/state
• Click on the line next to History of Summer Times, highlighting the line
• Click on the Down arrow. (The highlighted line will disappear)
• Correct the Summer Time value
• Click the Up arrow.
• Click on Save and Close.

B - 10 Summer Times incorrect after year 2000...?

If you have a version of WOW from prior to the year 2000, then the Summer Time table is not updated in 2001 and beyond. This also affects all southern hemisphere states. Download the latest time zone and summer time files, and overwrite the old files in your World of Wisdom DATA directory.

B - 11 Time Zones incorrect for Australia...?

In early versions of Horoscope Interpreter (particularly the "Attica" version) the Time Zones were incorrect for Australia. Download the NEW shareware from our site to get the very latest program.
This new program corrects:

• Incorrect Time Zones for Australia
• Adds 4000 Brazilian towns
• Gives updated Summer Times for the World until 2010

Alternatively download the latest time zone and summer time files, and overwrite the old files in your World of Wisdom DATA directory.

B - 12 Time Zone incorrect for Ohio...?

There is an error in the Time Zone Table for Ohio. You can correct it manually in the following way:

• Click on Options/Atlas then selecting the Time Zone Tab.
• Use the Search button to select the country/state
• Add the following data to the "Time Zone Start Date": (Day) = 1 (Month) 1 (Year) = 1919
• Add the following data to "Time Zone Value": (Hours) = 5 (Minutes) = 0 (E/W)= W
• Click the Up arrow.
• Click on Save and Close

Alternatively download the latest time zone and summer time files, and overwrite the old files in your World of Wisdom DATA directory.

B - 14 A.M. and P.M. times...?

World of Wisdom programs use the 24-hour clock, not the a.m./p.m. system. Morning births are the same as a.m. but if you are born in the afternoon, you'll need to add 12 hours to the p.m. time. For example:
3.20 p.m. = 15.20, or 11.30 p.m. = 23.30
